In a recent development, Patricia Bullrich, the presidential nominee from the center-right coalition Juntos pela Mudança, voiced her opposition to Argentina’s inclusion in the BRICS coalition, which comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.Libertarian candidate Javier Milei echoed this sentiment.Speaking at the 20th Council of the Americas event in Buenos Aires, Bullrich declared that Argentina would not pursue membership in the BRICS under their leadership. The general elections in Argentina are slated for October 22.Milei, also addressing the gathering, asserted his stance against BRICS membership, emphasizing Argentina’s geopolitical alignment with the United States and Israel. He further differentiated himself from Bullrich, stating he didn’t intend to engage with Brazil and China. In line with these views, Diana Mondino, a potential foreign minister in a Milei-led government, had previously criticized the current administration’s decision to join BRICS.Casa Rosada.
