NEW DELHI: Disturbed by the choices of some HCs to stop virtual mode of hearing cases that had debuted throughout the pandemic, CJI DY Chandrachud on Monday stated use of innovation to offer access to courts and to streamline and accelerate justice delivery system should not be dependent on individual convenience levels of chief justices of the HCs.

The issue arises when a CJ believes technology is not easy to use.

I will make sure they fall in line and utilize the innovation.

There can not be any exception.

It needs to be released at every level and we must connect to the lawyers and litigants in taluka level.

We need to offer all justice shipment system associated services to all supporters, the CJI stated.

Speaking in favour of using technology in judiciary, CJI DY Chandrachud stated on Monday, Some HC chief justices are disposing of the virtual hearing system.

I am disturbed.

They are abandoning the technology facilities that was created with substantial investment to offer access to litigants and lawyers.

The deployment of innovation in the justice shipment system and courts can not depend on the likes or dislikes of the HC CJ, or his individual convenience level in running the technology driven infrastructure.

Another method of believing with some judges is that when they are coming to court physically, why must the advocates refrain from doing the very same.

The HC chief justices should take forward the objective for substantial use of technology in the justice delivery system.

Some HC bar associations grumbled that these HCs are requiring physical presence of legal representatives as the courts have begun working in traditional physical mode after completion of Covid pandemic. One of the advocates present in the courtroom nonchalantly asked, Why then have a system of advocates-on-record, who alone can file petitions in the Supreme Court? Why cant any advocate file a petition prior to the SC? The CJI said this is entirely separate from the problem of use of technology.Chandrachud stated he had made an in-depth presentation about the information and technology needs of the judicial facilities before a parliamentary committee in the presence of then CJI NV Ramana.
