The move is being seen as an attempt to woo farmers before the announcement of election schedule when the model code of conduct comes into play.Opposition Congress party has termed the announcement as an attempt to "fool farmers"."The budget was passed in the state assembly only yesterday but there is no provision for the Rs 4,000 that he has announced for farmers.

We would be happy if farmers get the money but this is just an announcement as there is no budgetary provision," Congress spokesman Bhupendra Gupta while reacting on the issue said. The Election Commission is expected to announce the schedule for the byelections to 28 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh soon.
