New Delhi: Five cars are missing from an automobile workshop at Nangloi in west Delhi Tuesday night.
Senior Delhi Police officers say, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
"Several teams have been formed to recover cars.
We are investigating matter," senior officer, Seju Kuruvilla told news agency ANI.The high profile theft assumes significance as it comes just a week ahead of Republic Day, when security is heightened across national capital region.The five vehicles, which have gone missing, include a Volkeswagen Polo, Honda Amaze, Force Gurkha, Ford Ecosport and Mitshubishi Pajero.The owner of workshop, who has been identified as one Praveen Kumar, said that six cars were parked for repair, when he left night before theft.
But following day when he came to workshop, five of vehicles were missing."Got a call from a helper on Wednesday morning about theft.
The keys of stolen vehicles were kept on Pajero's dashboard," said owner of workshop.The police are analysing a CCTV video from area, which apparently shows five men, who came and jumpstarted cars and sped away.Reports suggest that owner of Force Gurkha is son of a senior defence ministry official.(With inputs from ANI)
