BHOPAL: Union home minister Amit Shah sounded the poll bugle in MP on Friday, appealing to people to elect BJP to office in the November assembly elections and next year’s Lok Sabha polls. The Narendra Modi government will be re-elected for a third term with two-thirds majority, Shah said in Satna after inaugurating a medical college.

Later, at an event organised by the Kol tribal community, he detailed the welfare projects of the Modi government and said it cares for the welfare of the deprived classes. He reminded people of the day when Modi took oath as India’s PM in 2014.

“He had promised that his government would be a government of the Dalits, poor, backward castes and tribes.

His words had sent a message across the world about what should be the priorities of a government.

In the last nine years, he has not only proven every word true but has also ensured that all the schemes meant for the poor are implemented on the ground,” Shah said.“This is the very identity of BJP.

BJP is governed by the principle of Antyoday which means empowering the poorest of the poor to live a life of dignity,” he added.During the Congress government, the poor didn’t have toilets at home, Shah said.

“The Modi government built 10 crore toilets and the largest beneficiaries of this scheme belonged to the tribal communities and the SCs,” Shah said, adding that 3 crore people were given homes that came equipped with electricity, gas cylinders and health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh.“PM Modi ensured that everyone avails of vaccination free of cost during the pandemic and protected the entire nation from Covid.

Also, 80 crore poor have been provided with 5kg of rice every month for the last two and a half years,” he said.Recalling the Kol Revolution of 1831, he said the BJP government is building 10 memorials, at a cost of Rs 200 crore, to honour tribal freedom fighters.

“In all these memorials built across the nation, the memories of the Kol Revolution are displayed with pride.

The BJP government in MP led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made commendable efforts to immortalise them,” he said.Congress never made a tribal person India’s President, he said.

“But it was PM Modi who seated Droupadi Murmu in the high office of Rashtrapati Bhawan, and expressed his respect for the tribes in India,” he said.
