INDORE/UJJAIN: Angered by his wife and kids who prevented him from killing his pet, a man hacked the three to death with a sword and later killed himself by slitting his throat in Badnagar town of Ujjain district late on Saturday.

The accused, Dilip Panwar, was angry after the pet barked at him when he reached home in an inebriated state.

His two other kids aged 13 and 11 escaped with injuries as they ran towards the terrace and jumped to another house after they were attacked by their father.

Victims had several brutal stab wounds: Police This is the second such incident in a week in which multiple members of a family were killed after a dispute over a pet dog in the state.

Three days ago, two members of a family in Indore were shot dead and six others were injured after one of them had hit the pet dog of the accused.Badnagar police station in-charge Deen Bandu Singh Tomar said that the incident took place in Baloda Arzi village when Dilip Panwar, 45, reached home in an inebriated condition.

While he was standing outside his home, his pet dog was continuously barking at him.

Angered by this, he went inside the house in a fit of rage and picked up the sword to kill the dog.Seeing this, his wife Gangabai, 40, tried to stop him but he attacked her with the sword.

Gangabai's daughter Neha, 17, and son Yogendra, 14, who intervened were also attacked brutally by their father.

Gangabai and her children died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.Two more children Bulbul, 11, and Devendra, 13, were also attacked by the accused but they fled and were saved.

After this, the man slit his throat with the sword.The minors informed the neighbours who informed police and by the time cops arrived all the four were dead.

The victims had several brutal stab wounds and some of their body parts were dismembered, said police.Both the injured children are admitted at the community health centre.

The final rites of the deceased were conducted in the afternoon.
