NEW DELHI: His Instagram bio introduces him as: "Naam - badnam, address - kabristan, umr - jeene ki, shauk - marne ka".

He recently turned 18, but already had four murders to his name.

It was a couple of years ago when Sameer watched the film 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' on cable TV.

The character of 'Maya', played by Vivek Oberoi, impressed him so much that Sameer named his group 'Maya gang' and referred to himself as 'Maya bhai'.

He also changed his Instagram ID to 'king_maya_302', the last digits referring to the IPC section of murder.

In an area where the city's veteran gangsters like Irfan Chhenu, Nasir and Hashim Baba have never allowed any splinter gangs to crop up for over a decade now, Sameer's rise in northeast Delhi's crime scene has surprised many, including seasoned cops.

For months, the gang of teenagers had been shooting at will, many a times to kill on the spot, robbing people on the go.

The police would have their hands tied as the suspects were underage delinquents.

The trigger-happy 'guns-for-hire' had become a headache for cops and the public at large.Sameer's Instagram profile is splattered with pictures and videos of him flaunting rifles and pistols.

A video even shows him firing from these weapons.

Police seem to have skipped over these during surveillance.

With 2,000-plus followers on Instagram, Sameer used the social media platform to gain notoriety.

A July 2022 post shows a YouTuber interviewing residents of northeast Delhi accusing him of a murder in the area and complaining about the nuisance he had become.

"He kills...

goes in...

comes out...

and kills again...

He will come out this time too and police will say as usual that he is underage and shirk responsibility," a resident is heard saying.

The next post shows him sitting inside a lockup.

Another post from October last year has visuals of a hospital and a reporter's voice alleging Sameer had shot a man dead.

Northeast Delhi police confirmed his involvement in two murders last year.

Sameer's audacity can be gauged from the fact that under the heading 'news', he has 'pinned' a post of CCTV footage of armed cops barging into a staircase leading to his house during a raid.

Other posts show him holding pistols, and bullets and guns scattered on his bed.

Till sometime ago, Sameer was using the social media platform like any other teen - posts from 2021 show him taking selfies in his room and flexing muscles at the gym.

The transition to a gangster seems rapid towards early 2022, something which cops corroborate from their records.
