NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that India has scripted history with the passage of the women's reservation bill by the Parliament.Also See: Women's Reservation Bill LiveThe Prime Minister, in his address at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, thanked all political parties for extending their support for the bill which ushers in a new era of women-led development in the country.Women reservation bill has been named as Nari Shakti Vandan-Abhinandan Karyakram by the government.Here are the key points from PM Modi's speech --The bill shows the government's commitment towards New India initiative of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.

Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is not a normal law, this is the proclamation of new democratic commitment of new India.There were many obstacles in the way of this women's reservation bill.

But When intentions are pure and there is transparency in attempts, then we witness results overcoming all obstacles.

It is a record in itself that this bill got so much support in Parliament.

I thank all political parties and MPs for it.Some decisions have the capability to change the country's future and we are witness to one such decision.

India has made history on September 20-21.

It is our good fortune that people gave us chance to do so.

I congratulate all women of the country.

Yesterday and the day before, we witnessed the making of a new history.

It is our fortune that crores of people gave us the opportunity to create that history.Our govt made every attempt to unshackle women with schemes for their security, respect, prosperity.BJP was making efforts for the last three decades to ensure women's participation in democracy through this law.

This was our commitment, and today, we have fulfilled it.This law has proved that a full-majority government, a strong government, a decisive government is a must to take the nation forward.We formed law to stop the ill practice of triple talaq, which caused atrocities on women.

Crores of Muslim women have gotten rid of the inhuman practice of triple talaq.

When an absolute majority of government came to power in the country, such a huge work could be completed.

We did not let anyone's selfishness become a wall before women's reservation.

People did vote for the Bill but a few people felt uneasy about why have the words 'Nari Shakti Vandan' been brought.

Shouldn't the women of the country be given salutations? Should there be so much arrogance in men and our political ideology that we are unhappy over 'Nari Shakti Vandan'?Earlier on Friday, PM Modi was given a rousing welcome and felicitated by BJP's Mahila Morcha members.

The 27-year-long wait for parliamentary clearance for women’s quota in legislatures ended on Thursday as the Rajya Sabha unanimously endorsed the Constitution (128th Amendment) Bill 2023 that seeks to reserve one-third of seats in Lok Sabha and state legislatures.The women's quota bill - Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam - will automatically apply to assemblies of all states and UTs of Delhi and Puducherry.
