NAVI MUMBAI: An online order for a lipstick costing Rs 300 left a doctor poorer by Rs 1 lakh.

The doctor, who resides in Navi Mumbai, had ordered the lipstick on an e-commerce portal on November 2.

A few days later, she received a message from the courier company stating that her order had been delivered.As she had not receive it, she contacted the courier company's number and she was told that a customer care representative would get in touch with her.The doctor said that she received a call and the person at the other end told her that her order had been put on hold and she needs to transfer Rs 2.

The person sent her a weblink, asking her to fill in her bank details.

As she clicked on the link, an app got downloaded on her mobile.On November 9, she received messages that Rs 95,000 and Rs 5,000 had been debited to her bank account.

The doctor lodged a complaint with the cyber police station at Nerul.
