The legendary tigress Maya (T-12), who ruled Tadoba National Park for 13 years, is feared dead.
A skeleton believed to be Maya's was found during a search operation conducted by foresters.
The remains were collected for DNA analysis to confirm the identity.
Maya was a popular attraction in the park and contributed significantly to wildlife tourism, generating around $100 million in the last decade.
The results of the DNA analysis are expected by November 30.
