KALABURAGI: Seven-year-old Mahanthamma Shivappa Jamadar, who fell into a vessel containing hot sambar at her school in Chinamagera village, Afzalpur taluk, Kalaburagi district, succumbed to her burn injuries at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru in the early hours of Sunday.
The incident occurred on November 16 when the class 2 student of Chinamagera government school fell into the boiling sambar vessel as it was being brought out from the kitchen for the midday meal.She accidentally fell into the large vessel while playing with another girl who was chasing her in the school corridor.Mahanthamma had sustained 50% burn injuries and was first admitted to GIMS in Kalaburagi from where she was shifted to a private hospital.
On Saturday, she was shifted to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru.
The headmaster of the school, Lalabi Nadaf, who was on leave that day and in charge headmaster Raju Chavan were suspended the very next day on charges of negligence after the block education officer submitted his report.
The head cook of the school, Kasturbai Talakeri, too has been suspended.
