KATHMANDU, JULY 9The Namuna College of Fashion Technology hosted a book launch to unveil the book titled 'Introduction to Textile Chemistry', authored by its faculty member, today.

The event showcased the remarkable work of Rajendra Singh, the Head of the Department for Textile, Garment Technology, and Merchandising at Namuna College. Various business leaders, industrialists, exporters, members of NCFT's Advisory Board, as well as faculty, staff, and students of the college, also attended the event.Mohammad Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal, and Gyani Shova Tuladhar, Founder Principal of NCFT, jointly inaugurated the book, acknowledging the significance of Singh's work.

They emphasized its potential to drive innovation and advancements in Nepal's textile industry and recognized it as a valuable resource for professionals in the field.

During the event, Singh also shared some of his experiences and challenges encountered while writing the book. Rajendra Singh who graduated from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh is the first Textile Engineer to be registered with Nepal Engineering Council.

He is a Member of Purbanchal University's Fashion Technology Subject Committee and a member of NCFT's Advisory Board.

Furthermore, Singh is the Deputy Director of the Trade and Export Promotion Center (TEPC), Nepal.This book marks a significant milestone in textile education in Nepal and holds the potential to shape the future of students and the textile industry in the country, according to the statement issued by the NCFT.

"It serves as a comprehensive resource for students studying textiles and fashion technology, not only within our universities but also for those who play a crucial role in various Nepali industries, such as carpet, pashmina, wool felt, cotton, nettle fibers (Allo), hemp dyeing, and more.

The book delves into the intricacies of textile chemistry, providing a deep understanding of the complex processes and methodologies involved in this field."The program was also attended by Tenzing Sherpa, President of the Nepal Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Durga Bikram Thapa, Vice President of the Federation of Export Entrepreneurs Nepal, Ajay Singh Karki, General Secretary of the Nepal Pashmina Industries Association, and Badan Nyachhon, a Senior Engineer and Entrepreneur.

They took the opportunity to share their insights on the book's importance for students and its impact on Nepal's fashion and textile industry.Namuna College of Fashion Technology (NCFT) is Nepal's first Fashion College and the initiator and pioneer of academic fashion education in the country.

NCFT introduced Nepal's first-ever Bachelor's course in Fashion with the Bachelor of Fashion Design program of 3 years (6 Semesters) in 2002 in affiliation with Purbanchal University.

In 2016, NCFT launched Nepal's only Bachelor's course in Fashion of 4 years (8 semesters) with the Bachelor of Fashion Design and Management (BFDM) program in affiliation with Purbanchal University. .
