JAIPUR: Six policemen were killed, while another suffered serious injuries after the SUV they were travelling in collided with a truck on National Highway 58 in Churu district of Rajasthan on Sunday morning.The policemen were assigned VIP duty for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in the poll-bound state.The six policemen, stationed at Khinvsar police station, and one from Mahila police station, were assigned to duty for PM Modi's meeting in Jhunjhunu.They were traveling in a Xylo SUV at the time of the collision.DGP Umesh Mishra expressed grief over the death of police personnel in the road accident.
He informed that in the accident, policemen Ramchandra, Kumbharam, Thanaram, Laxman Singh, and Suresh of Khinvsar police station in Nagaur district died, while constable Sukhram and head constable Sukhram were injured.
The injured were admitted to JLN Hospital in Nagaur.
Both were subsequently taken to Jodhpur MDM Hospital through the green corridor, but the constable died on the way.The accident, which happened at 5.30am, resulted in the complete destruction of the front part of the vehicle, trapping all the policemen inside.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot posted on X, “Early this morning, sad news was received about the casualties of policemen in a vehicle accident from Sujangarh Sadar area of Churu.
Our deepest condolences to the families of all the policemen who died in this accident.
