KATHMANDU, AUGUST 15The result of Grade XII published by the National Examination Board today showed that 182,926 (49.09 per cent) of total regular students who appeared the examination scored less than 1.61 GPA and were categorized as 'Non-Graded', which means they scored less than 35 out of 100. Grade 12 results out 50.09 per cent pass Nepse index sheds 1.73 per cent They will not be allowed to pursue higher education until they score higher marks in the chance examinations, or they will have to repeat Grade XII.A total of 372,637 regular students had appeared in the regular examination from 1,453 examination centres.

The exams were held from May 9 to May 19. The total number of students who failed shows progress by nearly two per cent in comparison to last year where almost 52 per cent of total student were 'Non Graded'.While the number of students scoring lesser grade is exceptionally high, the top students scoring higher grades is very less.

A total of 4,976 (1.87 per cent) of total students scored 'A Plus' or GPA 3.61 to GPA of 4.0.Similarly, 38,999 (10.47) per cent scored GPA 3.21 to 3.60, a total of 69,174 (18.56 per cent) scored GPA 2.81 to 3.20 which is the highest scoring range among all passed students.

The number of passed students is comparatively higher than in the previous years.

Last year, study in colleges was hampered due to the COVID 19 pandemic, while this year, there was no pandemic-related obstruction of classes.For the 'Non-Graded' students, there will be a chance examination that will be held between September 23 and 24.Member Secretary of the NEB Durga Aryal said that a total of 123,396 students who received Non Graded score in up to maximum two subjects will be eligible to take chance exam.

Around 79,584 students are 'Non-Graded' in one subject.Of all the 'Non-Graded' students a highest number of 109,527 students have failed in English subject.A version of this article appears in the print on August 16, 2023, of The Himalayan Times. .
