KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 4Experts have suggested the government to make public the report of the Eminent Persons Group on Nepal-India relations. Nembang's final rites to be performed with state honors; public holiday declared on the day of his final rites Govt to make arrangements for treatment of VIPs in the country In a meeting of the National Concern and Coordination Committee under the National Assembly held today, they shared that the determination of border between the two countries should be finalised and given official status.Expressing their view on the issues regarding Nepal-India relations, opportunities, problems and solutions, experts laid emphasis on implementing the border map prepared by technical mechanism of both countries taking a long time of 26 years. On the occasion, EPG member and former Water Resources Secretary Suryanath Upadhyay asked the government through the Parliament to give an official status to the two-country border by determining the disputed areas.

"As per border determination, it is necessary to remove encroachment on no man's land, to fence from one side if possible and to implement the mandamus of the Supreme Court regarding the border and its regulation," he said.Upadhyay shared that the local levels and concerned police offices should keep the record of Indian nationals in Nepal and it should be updated every six months.Labour permit should be effectively implemented in both organised and non-organised sectors as per provision of the Labour Law, according to him.The EPG member further stressed the need to effectively raise various issues like drug smuggling, human trafficking and other criminal activities in the Parliament as Nepal is facing challenges with peace and security due to such activities.Similarly, former director general of Survey Department Toyanath Baral said it was necessary to manage border regulation between the two countries in an integrated manner.He also suggested the government to implement the border-related map prepared by the EPG.A version of this article appears in the print on October 5, 2023, of The Himalayan Times .
