Afghanistan&s ministry of water and energy warned Sunday of the possibility of flooding and rising river levels from heavy rainfall and melting snow in several provinces of the country from Monday through to Wednesday.According to a statement issued by the ministry, they have taken into account reports by the National Meteorological Department and international meteorological organizations which have forecast the possibility of relatively heavy rain, with flash floods, along the Panj Amo, Kabul and Helmand rivers.&On the mentioned days, there is a possibility of flooding due to rainfall, and melting snow due to rising water levels along the rivers,& the statement read adding this would affect Baghlan, Panjshir, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, Khost, Paktia and Ghazni.The ministry has asked people living along the rivers to keep people living downstream informed of a change in river levels.
