A man found guilty of stealing mailbags in London in the 1970s has had his name cleared, 43 years later.

Businessman Stephen Simmons, 62, from Dorking, Surrey, was 19 when he was convicted of the theft of the mailbags from Clapham Goods Yard in South London in 1976.

After being found guilty he served eight months in a youth detention centre. But Mr Simmons always maintained his innocence.

After taking legal advice from a radio phone-in show five years ago, Mr Simmons Googled the name of the policeman who’d arrested him and discovered the officer had later been convicted for stealing Royal Mail bags and framing people for it.

His case returned to court when the the Criminal Cases Review Commission referred the matter to the Appeal Court last year.

he was “100 per cent confident” that he would clear his name.

I am bitter, absolutely bitter against him.

I want to let it go, but I can't. Now I'm going to court and can have my day.

Mr Simmons was present in court in London on Wednesday when the Court of Appeal overturned his theft convictions.

Lord Chief Justice Lord Burnett announced: “We would wish only to note our regret that it has taken so long for this injustice to be remedied.

Asked if he was relieved following the ruling, Mr Simmons replied: “I can't tell you how relieved.

It has only taken 43 years, but I have got there at last.

Anushka Shetty on Bhaagamathie

Authors: Ecroaker. com Boosters.

It was a mini-Baahubali reunion at the Bhaagamathie's audio launch as Anushka Shetty was joined by her co-stars Ramya Krishnan and Nasser at the event in Chennai along with the rest of the cast and crew. Suriya, who has also acted with Anushka in the Singham franchise, was also present as a special guest during the audio launch. The film's album has been scored by Thaman. Bhaagamathie would be Thaman's second album in Tamil after Vikram's Sketch.

Talking at the audio launch, the actress thanked her producers for trusting her with the role. I listened to the script of Bhaagamathie in 2012, almost five years back. Since I was busy shooting Baahubali and Rudhramadevi, I couldn't allocate dates for this film immediately. Later, I had to begin shooting for Rajinikanth's Lingaa and Size Zero. But the production house UV Creations waited till 2016 to start shooting since they trusted me with the character," said the actor. Anushka Shetty also described her role as a very challenging one as she is the central character in the film with several solo sequences. Jayaram, Asha Sharath and Unni Mukundan play essential characters in the movie and everyone has a fantastic part. Since the movie revolves around my character, a lot of screen time is dedicated to my part," she said.

Talking about Anushka Shetty, director Ashok described the Baahubali actor as a very dedicated artiste who goes the extra mile for her role. Anushka shed 20 kilos for her role by following a rigorous diet plan. She would also occasionally give her inputs to fine-tune the story in a better manner, and it has helped us a lot," he said. He further appreciated Thaman's music saying it would one of the talking points after the film hits the screens.

One song from the album, "Mandhaara" is now available on YouTube. Sung by Jyotsna Radhakrishnan the melody has lyrics penned by Viveka in Tamil. The Telugu version has words by Sreejo, sung by Shreya Ghoshal. A lilting melody, "Mandhaara" is an easy listen. The song is sweet but doesn't make a mind-blowing impact on the listener.

Bhaagmathie will release on January 26 in three languages -- Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil. The film will be clashing with Jayam Ravi's Tik Tik Tik and Udhaynidhi's Nimir.

Casting couch is a grim reality in film industries all over the world. In India, shockingly, many celebrities pretend to deny its existence.

However, over the years, many Indian actresses have come forward and shared their horror stories.

On Day 1 of the India Today Conclave South 2018, in Hyderabad, Kannada actress Sruthi Hariharan spoke about her run-ins with the casting couch, and shared her terrifying experiences.

Sruthi was speaking during a session titled Sexism In Cinema: Time's Up.

The meeting for my first Kannada film left me so scared and petrified. I was only 18 back then," she said, adding that she did not do the film in the end.

However, Sruthi grew wiser and tougher over the years, and learned how to battle such situations.

She related another incident that happened after a few years, "Three or four years later, a well-established Kannada producer told me on a phone call, 'We're five producers, and we will use you and exchange you however we want. I remember this, and I immediately told him, I carry a slipper in my hand and you come to me and I will hit you.

Sruthi said that the word spread, and people began to believe that she was a "weird" and a "difficult person".

However, this ironically, just boosted her career. Sruthi said proudly, "But since then, I've received only good film offers.

In the Tamil film industry, however, her phone call with the producer did not go down very well. She stopped getting good offers for Tamil films.

Her advice to women in showbiz is, "More women need to stand up, to say no to this. You need two hands to clap. Don't just blame the men. Stand up against the casting couch.

And now according to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the dashing lad got practically mobbed, with young girls asking for selfies and pictures. The report further said Aryan was not able to pick his luggage from the conveyor belt because he was mobbed at the airport.

But there is something here to make a note of, Aryan Khan did oblige the girls with pictures (instead of shooing them away) and that's a sweet gesture. Does he get that from father Shah Rukh? Well, certainly looks like.

Aryan has not even entered Bollywood and he is already youth's favourite star kid!

Shah Rukh's kids Aryan and Suhana were in India for their Christmas holidays.

When SRK was asked about Aryan in one of the interviews, he said, "He's learning how to make movies, which is something I am still doing 25 years later (laughs! Gauri and I often sit down and ask each other. Kaun hai yeh bade bade log joh hamare saath rehte hai and are roaming around the house? I see my daughter (Suhana) all dressed up, hanging out with her friends and going out partying. We are liberal parents. Aryan is a tough guy; he does Taekwondo and he's building muscle, but he very sweetly tells me, 'Baba, you can still beat me'. It feels like Gauri and I are stuck in a time warp, where we are living with these two people (Aryan and Suhana), we know them, but we don't associate them as our children who have grown up.

She plays the role of Jhalkaribai in the film. Talking about it, she said: "People only know Jhalkaribai as a warrior and a replica of Rani Lakshmibai, and that made the role doubly challenging. When I discussed my scenes with Danny sir (Danny Denzongpa), he advised me to do it my way and today I believe she must have been someone like me.

She then went on to confess that she was offered a film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She told the Mirror: "I love Sanjay sir and he lauded my talent and urged me not to waste my time. But I missed out on the opportunity. I would feel bad if something like this (hinting at Padmaavat) happens with our film given how much research we have done. If something happens tomorrow we will stand by the film.

It is well known that Ankita broke off all ties with Sushant Singh Rajput in 2016. Asked about it, she said: "I've always been open about my last relationship but even when I was in one, I didn't talk about my personal life, and I don't need to talk about it now. If it's my career, I can talk to you for hours, but not about this.

When asked about Kangana Ranaut, she was quick to say: "She's sweet with me like she is with everyone else on the sets. We've practised together and she has helped me many times and also praised my scenes and dancing skills. When you are new and someone like Kangana supports you, it really means a lot.

'Screen timing does not matter to me'

Authors: Ecroaker. com Boosters.

Sonam Kapoor, who plays a pivotal role in the Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan, says if the character is substantial, she does not mind playing a small yet important role in a movie.

It was the same case in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

After her performance in Neerja which not only received positive reviews, but also got Sonam a special mention at the National Awards, has her criteria for choosing a film changed?

Sonam says, "It is the combination of the story and my character; screen timing does not matter to me, honestly. One does not have to be in every single frame of the film to create an impact of the character. If my part is well-crafted, even with three scenes, my character can make a major impact on the story. And that's what matters.

Sonam says she is primarily interested in working with good directors because filmmaking is a collaborative art where working with the right team brings the best of every creative individual.

So, who are the director she wants to work with?

There are actually few directors that I would love to work with again, like R. Balki, Rajkumar Hirani, Ram Madhvani. I loved working with them. That apart, I want to work with Shoojit Sircar, Vishal Bhardwaj and Shimit Amin among others," she said.

Despite her film choices, the tag of 'fashionista' never goes away from her image. But she says she will always remain unapologetic about it.

I love wearing make-up and beautiful clothes. I think there is nothing wrong with it. If someone judges me based on that, it is his problem not mine.

Seriously, I think when it comes to films, in last few of them, all my directors wanted me not to wear make-up because they think I have very good skin. That is why the no make-up looks. However, I do things in real life that I cannot get a chance to do on-screen. So yes, in public events, parties I flaunt good clothes," said the actor, who has featured in movies like Raanjhanaa, Khoobsurat and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

While Sonam's forthcoming release is PadMan, hitting the screens on January 25, later in the year she will be seen in Veere Di Wedding, which will come out on June 1.
