Save the Children company has raised issues that the recent restriction on women working for NGOs will lead to an increase in the variety of children that get sent to work. The company said this follows they had to suspend activities in Afghanistan as 50% of their labor force are females and that they are vital for the safe and reliable delivery of its services. The ban comes at a time when Afghanistan is facing its worst financial and food crisis on record, with more than 28 million kids and grownups in need of humanitarian support.Save the Children stated in a statement that moms and dads desperate to feed their families are progressively sending their kids to operate in typically dangerous environments.
A current evaluation discovered that 29% of female-headed families in 2022 had at least one kid engaged in kid labour, up from 19% in 2021.
& The restriction on female help employees indicates we can not run our programs that assist kids, particularly women, involved in the most unsafe types of child labour.
These consist of working in brick factories, on constructing websites and in people & s homes, as well as collecting rubbish and begging on the streets.
& Our female staff are involved in every element of the programme, from going door-to-door recognizing ladies involved in kid labour to signing up and supporting them to return to school or enrol in employment training, or teaching the ladies technical skills and helping them to establish their own services & whatever.
& If we can not resume our kid protection services with our female personnel, lots of women will be pushed back into kid labour, & the statement read. The post Child defense agency worried kid labor will increase in wake of NGO restriction initially appeared on Ariana News.
