DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand cabinet on Wednesday offered approval to the Joshimath rehabilitation policy to supply compensation to the residents of the hill town who have been affected by land subsidence.

While the state has actually revealed payment for homes and stores, it is still waiting for the report from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to select the plan for land settlement.

The rehab policy for Joshimath has been divided into 3 parts - rates, alternatives and conditions.

As far as rates for houses are concerned, it has been chosen to provide settlement in accordance with the rate chosen by the CPWD and likewise include the expense index to it.

After deducting the amount of devaluation of the affected structure from the cost of the upcoming building, settlement will be given for the staying quantity.

For business buildings made with a load-bearing structure, the rate is Rs 39,000 per square metre and it is Rs 45,000 per square metre for RCC structures.

The three alternatives provided to house owners are - they can take the payment or a 75 metre land can be provided to them.

If their existing land in Joshimath was larger than 75 square metre, they would be provided payment for the additional land.

If one is unable to make a home, the state would make it for them.Shop owners too have actually been given options on comparable lines.

They can declare payment for the damaged structure or take land up to 15 square metre.

Besides, if the owners want, the government would construct buy them.

A one-time monetary help of Rs 2 lakh would be provided to individuals who have been staying in Joshimath for over a year and their leased lodging or shops are stated risky.
