CHHAPRA: One Nasim Kuraishi was brutally thrashed near Banshi Chhapra Tola at Asahani village under the Rasulpur police station area in Saran district on the suspicion of selling beef on Tuesday.

He died during treatment at Ekma hospital in the night.

The deceased belonged to Hasanpura village under HM Nagar police station area in Siwan district.

Three named accused - Sushil Singh, Ravi Sah and Ujjawal Sharma - have been arrested.Saran SP Gaurav Mangala said two persons were caught with banned meat on Tuesday afternoon near a mosque at Jogiya village under Rasulpur police station area.

Three arrested The villagers thrashed one of them while the other managed to flee.

Later, the villagers informed the Rasulpur police and in-charge SHO handed him over to Dardaunda police station in Siwan district.“Police sent the injured to Ekma for treatment but he died in the hospital,” the SP said.

After the incident, co-villagers of the deceased went to Rasulpur police station with the body.

Feroz Ahmed, the nephew of the deceased, lodged an FIR.

Feroz alleged that when he was coming back to his village with his 45-year-old uncle Nasim from Jogiya village on Tuesday, some people attacked them on the suspicion of being beef smugglers.

His uncle was thrashed, leading to his death.

Feroz named four persons, including sarpanch Sushil Kumar Singh of Asahani panchayat, Rajan Sah, Ujjawal Sharma and Abhishek Sharma of Jogiya village and about a dozen unknown persons in his FIR.
