HYDERABAD: With only 11 days left for the assembly elections in Telangana on November 30, BJP on Saturday unveiled its manifesto, promising to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state and to set up a judicial commission to probe corruption allegations against the BRS government, apart from a host of welfare schemes.Releasing the 48-page document, Union home minister Amit Shah said a committee could be constituted to implement the UCC within six months of government formation in the state. The manifesto also promised to appoint a commission of inquiry headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to probe into all corruption allegations and other financial irregularities committed by the BRS government.“BJP will make sure to get those involved in corrupt deals jailed.

Under CM KCR’s leadership, Telangana democracy has turned into ‘loot tantra’ and ‘praja tantra’ has turned into ‘parivaar tantra,” Shah said.Terming the assurances made in the document as “PM Modi’s guarantee” to the people, he said unlike Congress and BRS, BJP would implement what it had promised.BJP promised to fast-track scheduled castes’ sub-categorisation in reservations to ensure that the most disadvantaged and underprivileged among the SCs were empowered.

It further vowed to remove “unconstitutional” religion-based reservation and distribute the quota among OBCs, SCs and STs instead.BJP also vowed to commemorate Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 every year and observe August 27 as “Razakar Horrors Remembrance Day”.

A museum and a memorial would be built in Hyderabad to document the brave struggle of the people of Telangana against the Razakars and the Nizams, the manifesto said.It promised to reduce VAT on diesel and petrol, thereby reducing their prices. In schemes targeting women and girls, it promises the ‘Aada Bidda Bharosa’ fixed deposit scheme for a girl child at her birth, under which Rs 2 lakh can be redeemed when she turns 21.

Free laptops will be provided for girl students who are entering undergraduate degree or professional college courses.
