JAIPUR: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge alleged Saturday that when his party does something for the poor, Narendra Modi calls it “freebies” even as the PM waives loans worth Rs 15 lakh crore for the rich.At public meetings in Bharatpur’s Weir and Tijara in Alwar district ahead of the November 25 Rajasthan polls, Kharge asserted that Congress will return to office.
“Prime Minister Modican try as much as he wants...Congress will retain its government in Rajasthan,” Kharge said on a day the PM also barnstormed the state with rallies.Kharge accused the BJP of making the rich richer and the poor poorer, while emphasising that Congress works for the deprived, the farmers of our country and youths. There are 30 lakh jobs in the public sector but the Modi government gave fewer than a lakh jobs so far after having promised 2 crore jobs every year, the Congress chief said.
He claimed the central government wasn’t filling ST/ST and OBC vacancies “to keep these disadvantaged groups away from government jobs”.Kharge also accused Modi of lying, not keeping his promise of giving Rs 15 lakh to every individual from black-money seizures, and crushing the poor through demonetisation in 2016.
“No one lost any money but only the poor suffered losses,” Kharge said.
