NEW DELHI: Shares of Dhunseri Petrochem (down 10 per cent), Vardhman Holdings (down 8.39 per cent) and HPCL (down 7.97 per cent) plunged up to 10 per cent on NSE on Wednesday amid across the board selling.Stocks such as Dhampur Sugar (down 7.89 per cent), Balrampur Chini (down 7.23 per cent), ITD Cementation (down 6.69 per cent), Vedanta (down 6.41 per cent), Tata Steel (down 6.37 per cent) and Century Textiles Industries (down 6.16 per cent) tanked over 6 per cent.Shares of BPCL (down 5.95 per cent), JSPL (down 5.91 per cent), Navneet Education (down 5.76 per cent), SAIL (down 5.65 per cent), Weizmann Forex (down 5.42 per cent) and ONGC (down 5.29 per cent) declined over 5 per cent.Indian shares suffered strong losses on Wednesday on across the board selling, led by metal, oil gas, pharma, FMCG and financials.Surging crude oil prices and falling rupee continued exerting pressure on the market, while weak global cues offered no hope.Investor sentiment remained subdued in the absence of any positive trigger amid sustained capital outflows.The Sensex index finished the day 306 points, or 0.88 per cent, down at 34,345, with 26 stocks incurring losses and only 5 with gains.The Nifty index tanked 106 points, or 1.01 per cent, to settle at 10,430, with 14 stocks in the green, 35 in the red and one unchanged.HPCL, Vedanta, Tata Steel, BPCL, ONGC and Indian Oil Corporation remained the top losers in the Nifty index.
