NEW DELHI: Nifty IT index remained the top gainer among the sectoral indices on Thursday.The index finished the day 2.31 per cent up at 13,775.65, with KPIT Technologies (up 4.78 per cent) as the top gainer.Tata Consultancy Services was up next in the index, rising 3.31 per cent.Infosys, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies jumped 2.96 per cent, 2.26 per cent and 2.09 per cent, respectively.Mindtree and Wipro climbed 0.52 per cent and 0.36 per cent, respectively.
Domestic equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty settled in the positive zone on gains in IT, bank, financial, telecom, pharma and metal stocks amid mixed global cues.The Sensex surged 318 points, or 0.93 per cent, to finish at 34,663, while Nifty50 climbed 84 points, or 0.80 per cent to rest at 10,514.In the Nifty pack, 34 stocks advanced and 16 declined, while in Sensex 24 remained in the green and 7 in the red.Barring Nifty Auto and realty, all sectors closed with gains on Thursday, with Nifty IT at the top.
