TEHRAN-- Iranian films The Dream of a Horse and Seven Symphonies of Zagros will be completing in the 31st International Festival of Ethnological Films in Belgrade.The festival, which uses an insight into a large range of ethnographic movies on the standard and contemporary lifestyles of human communities, will take place in the Serbian capital from October 3 to 6.
The Dream of a Horse by Marjan Khosravi and Seven Symphonies of Zagros by Parviz Rostami will be evaluated in the primary competitors of the event.
The Dream of a Horse follows Shahnaz, the earliest daughter of a wanderer household, who loves writing and her stories are influenced by her way of life.
Her father wants to marry her off to much better the households condition, however Shahnaz wants to pursue bigger dreams.Khosravis documentary film The Snow Calls won a respectable reference at the 30th International Festival of Ethnological Films.
Seven Symphonies of Zagros tells the viewpoint of 7 musical maqams of the ancient Kurdish wind instrument, shamshal, in the life of the people in the Zagros area.
The film is also the monologue of an old male who invested 65 years of his life playing shamshal.
The story of the movie is character-oriented and the approach of the seven maqams in his life is implied.
7 is considered as a sacred number in various faiths, and the content of the film is associated with this issue.A jury comprised of anthropologist and filmmaker Peter I.
Crawford, director Vlado Zrnic and history scholar Maja Novakovic will select the winners.
Organized annually by the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, the celebration intends to add to raising public awareness of the importance of cultural heritage for the helpful development of human communities.Its objective is to cultivate research study and imaginative methods to ethnographic documentaries, educate the public on diverse regional cultural customs, in addition to raise a voice resolving the issues of modern society, which often ignores the values of cultural heritage.Photo: The Dream of a Horse by Marjan Khosravi.MMS/ YAW
