JAMMU: At least nine people were injured in two synchronised surges that police suspect were triggered by IEDs planted in two vehicles parked in the busy industrial area of Narwal on the borders of Jammu city in between 11am and 11.20 am Saturday.The bombings happened simply 2 days prior to the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra is scheduled to reach Jammu and ahead of next weeks Republic Day celebrations-- a time when security firms in the area are on high alert.J-& K unit Congress representative Ravinder Sharma said the yatra will continue.
The yatra entered J&Ks Kathua district Thursday evening by means of Punjab and is outdoor camping in Chadwal, about 70km from Jammu.
It is scheduled to resume from Hiranagar this Sunday and reach Jammu on January 23.
According to extra DGP Mukesh Singh, presumed terrorists planted IEDs in an old Bolero parking lot outside a cars and truck service center and another lorry at a nearby junkyard about 5km from Jammu city.
The first blast injured 5 individuals who were standing close by.
The second bomb went off 50 metres away.
The injured have been taken to Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu.
The area has actually been cordoned off and a search released to capture the perpetrators.
Forensic groups are gathering evidence and leads, another senior officer said.Lieutenant guv Manoj Sinha condemned the twin blasts and revealed Rs 50,000 to each of the injured.
