JAIPUR: A 16-year-old girl trying to fly to Pakistan to meet a Lahore-based boy was caught at Jaipur International Airport on Friday afternoon, sending police and intelligence agencies into a tizzy. The Hindu girl drew the attention of security personnel at the airport when she was found asking for a ticket to Lahore.

She, however, did not have a passport, visa or any other document with her.

The security personnel promptly sent her to airport police, and she said to them that her name was "Gazal Mohammad" and that she was a "verified" Pakistani national who had come to India with her aunt three years ago but decided to return as the aunt in Sikar had been forcing her to marry her cousin.

She said she came to Jaipur from Sikar by bus and was helped by two boys she met in the bus. With the incident coming close on the heels of a woman from Alwar district, Anju, having gone to Pakistan to marry her lover, Jaipur Police alerted the state intelligence.

A posse of senior officials including DCP (East) Gyan Chandra Yadav and ACP (Malviya Nagar) Chiranji Lal Meena reached the police station. At about 4pm, Sikar police and the local intelligence wing began an operation to track down the girl's aunt but failed despite a door-to-door inquiry in the village mentioned by the girl.

By 6pm, Sikar police relayed a message that no such woman and no girl by the name of Gazal lived there."After much cajoling, the girl revealed she was not Gazal.

She said she studies with her sister in Chomu near Jaipur.

She had met on Instagram someone named 'Aslam' from Lahore, who guided her to come to Pakistan and asked her to use the name 'Gazal' to book a flight to Lahore," said Yadav.Police officials said the girl seemed to have been "guided and tutored" about this plot by the boy who had been in touch with her over social media.

The girl also did not say clearly if she wanted to return to her parents."Aslam and the girl have been chatting on Instagram for a year now.

She said the same boy was also in contact with one of her classmates," said an official. The two boys whose help the girl took to come to Jaipur are being interrogated by a police team, said the official.
