BAREILLY: Robbers broke into the house of an assistant professor of a management college at Katra in UP's Shahjahanpur district Monday night and hacked him to death.
Three of his kin are critical.
On Tuesday, one of the accused died in an encounter with police while another sustained a bullet injury.
Prof hacked to death by armed robbers, 3 of his kin critical A 35-year-old assistant professor of a private management college at Katra in UP's Shahjahanpur district was hacked to death allegedly by armed robbers who barged into his two-storey house on Monday night.
Three of his family members were critically injured.Neighbours found the family, including Alok Gupta, the assistant professor, lying in a pool of blood.
His wife Sonam Gupta, father Sudheer Gupta and brother Prashant were among the injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.In a police complaint, Sonam said, "I was asleep in my room with the children.
Around 3.30am, I heard a loud noise and I went outside.
To my horror, I saw some men repeatedly stabbing my husband with long knives.
I tried to save him and screamed for help.
The men stabbed me too.
Other members of the family arrived and the assailants tried to flee.
We managed to catch one of them.
At least 8-10 men entered our house by scaling the boundary wall."The complainant added: "The attacker said his name was Shahbaz and he had been sent by notorious criminal Shageer Khan."Shahbaz was handed over to police who picked up one more accused soon after.
Meanwhile, in a late development on Tuesday, police said one of the accused has died in an encounter while the other sustained bullet injury.
