Brazil

On June 19, Brazil’s Senate Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) greenlit a pivotal bill, led by Senator Irajá.Bill 2234/2022 aims to overhaul the nation’s gambling laws, passing with a close 14-12 vote.It now heads to the Senate floor for more rigorous scrutiny.

This legislation would legalize casinos, lotteries, and horse betting across Brazil. Moreover, the bill paves the way for casinos in tourist areas or integrated leisure complexes. These complexes must feature upscale hotels with at least 100 rooms, alongside restaurants, bars, and cultural venues.Under this proposal, each Brazilian state and the federal district can establish one casino.Brazilian Senate Committee Approves Landmark Gambling Bill.

Gambling can transform local economies by creating jobs and generating taxes.
