Nicaragua has appointed an ambassador to Afghanistan in a rare move increasing ties with the Islamic Emirate, reports said.Michael Campbell, currently Nicaragua&s ambassador to China, will take on the additional role from his office in Beijing, AFP reported citing Nicaragua&s pro-government news outlet El 19 Digital.&We thank the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, that people, that government, for the blessing they have given to our comrade Michael Campbell,& Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo said Friday.Since their 2021 return to power, IEA has not been formally recognized by any nation.The Nicaraguan government did not mention recognizing the IEA in its announcement.China also has an ambassador to Afghanistan without recognizing the IEA.In a letter to IEA leader around a month ago, Nicaragua president, Daniel Ortega, while expressing his sympathy over the floods, expressed his interest in establishing good relations with the Islamic Emirate and cooperation in various fields.
