Petrobras, Brazil’s state-owned oil company, has announced the early launch of a new offshore platform.
The Maria Quitéria platform began operations on Tuesday in the Jubarte field, part of the Whale Park area in the Campos Basin.This massive structure stands 156 meters tall and 333 meters long.
It rests in 1,385 meters of water in the Atlantic Ocean.
The platform’s capacity is impressive, capable of extracting up to 100,000 barrels of oil and 5 million cubic meters of natural gas daily.Originally scheduled for 2025, the platform’s early start demonstrates Petrobras’ commitment to increasing production.
The Maria Quitéria platform features eight production wells and eight injection wells.

In 2023, the company’s total oil and natural gas production reached 2.78 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.
