Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the nation’& rsquo; s power energy company, stated Wednesday ex-officials of the previous federal government and state organizations owe 13 billion afghanis (AFN) in overdue electrical energy debt.Head of DABS has cautioned the ex-officials that if they do not pay the electricity consumption cost, their houses and assets will be seized.Last year, DABS revealed that it had actually gathered $681 million dollars in debt from previous authorities and industrial and commercial companies.Head of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), Abdul Bari Omar, stated on Tuesday that the energy business spends for their imported power on the 27th and 28th of every month.According to Omar, the company is updated on its payments.Last year, DABS’& rsquo; s representative stated the company had settled financial obligation totalling $627 million that had been rollovered from the former government.This cash was paid to Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Iran.Omar specified that in the last three months, energy production projects worth $400 million have actually been put into operation and other tasks are on the agenda.According to him, these tasks include wind, gas, coal and solar energy initiatives.On the Kajaki dam in Helmand, he said the dam will be able to produce 150 megawatts of electrical energy within the next year.While efforts are being made to increase electrical power production, Afghans continue to battle with little or no power.At present, 950 megawatts of electricity is consumed yearly in the nation, of which just over 300 megawatts is produced locally and the balance is imported from surrounding countries.The post DABS owed 13 billion AFN by former federal government officials first appeared on Ariana News.
