
A meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and authorities of the Excise Department was held today (11) at the Presidential Secretariat.The conversation focused on resolving the current challenges faced by the Excise Department and achieving this years earnings targets, the Presidents Media Division (PMD) said.A key point of the conversation was the integration of the departments operations with the Inland Revenue Department to enhance efficiency and fairness in tax collection.Attention was drawn to the effective and effective regulation of alcohol and other approved intoxicants within the country to support economic growth.This consists of increasing state revenue through correct guideline of the alcohol and tobacco markets, assisting in legal earnings generation, imposing compliance with laws and regulations, executing strong awareness programs versus illegal alcohol, hazardous drugs, and psychedelic substances, avoiding health risks related to unregulated alcohol intake, and guaranteeing public security, according to the PMD.Discussions were held on earnings collection and defense through an efficient decision-making and management system in strategic and operational activities.The need of developing a human resource and technological development strategy to enhance the effectiveness of the Excise Department was also discussed, the PMD added.The meeting was gone to by Secretary to the President Dr.
