
TEHRAN Golestan province has actually included 8 new cultural heritage sitesfive historical sites and 3 historic buildingsto Irans National Heritage List, according to a recent announcement by provincial officials.Hamid Omrani Rekavandi, Deputy for Cultural Heritage at the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Golestan province, validated the registration on Monday.
Following two sessions of the National Council for the Registration of Historical and Cultural Immovable Properties, we successfully registered these 8 significant websites, he stated.
Highlighting the provinces abundant cultural and historical tradition, Omrani Rekavandi emphasized that Golestan is home to varied landscapes, a deep-rooted civilization, and a wealth of historical landmarks.
Signing up these sites is an essential step in maintaining our heritage and ensuring their appropriate recognition, he noted.
Among the recently noted sites are 5 historical areas, some dating as far back as the fifth millennium BCE and extending into the early Islamic duration.
Their addition brings the total number of signed up archaeological sites in Golestan to 655.
In addition, 3 historical structures were contributed to the National Heritage List, raising the overall number of registered historic structures in the province to 166.
With these most current additions, Golestan now boasts an overall of 1,040 nationally recognized cultural heritage websites.
