Coinciding with World Consumer Rights Day on March 15, a brand-new effort under the Clean Sri Lanka program is set to be executed to promote awareness and attitudinal modification concerning consumer rights protection within society.A discussion on this effort was held at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of Dr.
Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the President, with the participation of officials from the Ministries of Health and Agriculture, according to the Presidents Media Division (PMD).

Nandika Sanath Kumanayake highlighted the requirement for the useful execution of existing policies and strategies of the Ministry of Health to guarantee that citizens have access to safe and high-quality food.Extensive conversations were held on ensuring consumers right to gain access to high-quality and safe food.
The dialogue focused on creating an environment that supports compliance with health standards, boosting consumer self-confidence and exploring procedures to involve both the public and private sectors in accomplishing these goals, the PMD said.It further included that the attention was likewise drawn to the useful implementation of existing policies and plans associated with food requirements and quality control through the Clean Sri Lanka Programme, checking out possible procedures to achieve these objectives effectively.Discussions also concentrated on incorporating the Clean Sri Lanka Programme with the Ministry of Agricultures National Policy structure, particularly in guaranteeing the safety and appropriate storage of agricultural produce.
Additionally, attention was provided to the execution of existing guidelines associated with restaurant accreditation, street vendor guideline, registration of street food facilities & & food trucks and registration of personnel training, the PMD said.The meeting was participated in by Senior Additional Secretary to the President, G.M.R.D.
