Ikea in Hyderabad: IKEA's Indian website shows popular products at lower prices than in the US.
Five years, commitment of 30 per cent local sourcing and a planned investment of Rs 10,500 crore is what Swedish furniture retailer Ikea had to make to launch its first store in India.
The long-awaited Ikea store opened on Thursday in a 13-acre complex in the heart of HITEC City, Hyderabad.
It has not been an easy journey - Ikea India launch was much delayed because of regulatory norms and quality commitments.
And now, when Ikea has finally made a foray into the Indian market, the company has ensured that it adapts to local tastes and prices to win over customers in a market that is dominated by a multitude of vendors selling ready-made or made-to-order furniture.
