The Russian Orthodox Church unveiled a monument in Yekaterinburg today commemorating a recent military operation versus Ukrainian forces in the southwestern Kursk region.The monolith, made from an area of a gas pipeline, becomes part of a photo exhibit commemorating Operation Pipeline, throughout which hundreds of Russian unique forces crawled 16 kilometers (10 miles) through an unused pipeline section as part of a surprise counteroffensive versus Ukrainian troops.The operation, which took place earlier this month, is credited with assisting Russian forces reclaim Sudzha, the last significant town in the Kursk area to be held by Ukrainian soldiers after their cross-border incursion in August.On Tuesday, the diocese of Yekaterinburg provided a 16-meter-long (52.5 feet) area of pipeline at the Church on the Blood, likewise called the Church of All Saints.
The church is located on the website of the execution of the Romanov imperial family.The diocese stated the pipeline section was supplied by a regional subsidiary of Gazprom, the state-owned energy giant, which likewise helped arrange the event.
