President Anur Kumara Dissanayake says that Eid-ul-Fitr is an event that transcends religious borders, promoting unity, compassion and selflessnes.He mentioned that as Sri Lanka goes through different social, financial and political changes, the mentors of Islam provide an outstanding example for constructing a society rooted in freedom, equality, uniformity and human dignity.I strongly think that these values serve as guiding principles in our cumulative journey towards a just and harmonious country, he said in his Eid-ul-Fitr Message on Monday (31 ).
The President mentioned that as the country makes every effort to cultivate a responsible and ethical political culture, one that values responsibility over corruption and the abuse of public resources, the principles of self-restraint and sacrifice highlighted during Ramadan use a motivating model.They remind us of the requirement to cultivate a governance system that is sensitive to the aspirations and well-being of its individuals, he said.Eid-ul-Fitr is an event that goes beyond spiritual limits, promoting unity, empathy and altruism.
