Chinas Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday advised the United States to end its method of optimal pressure with mutual tariffs.
Lin Jian, representative for the ministry, said facts have shown and will continue to prove that there are no winners in a tariff war or a trade war, that protectionism leads no place, which the United States abuse of tariffs is harmful to others and to itself.
We prompt the United States to abandon its wrong method of optimal pressure and solve problems through dialogue on an equivalent footing and in an equally respectful and useful method, Lin said.The representative made the remarks in reaction to questions connected to the United States recent exemption of some products from its reciprocal tariffs.
The United States Customs and Border Protection revealed in an updated guidance late Friday that the federal government has excused mobile phones, computers and other electronic products from its mutual tariffs.
The file mentioned that the exemption applies to electronic products getting in the United States after April 5.
It said mutual tariffs already paid can be reimbursed upon request.
