The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will take place at numerous places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces and in Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa districts during the afternoon or night today (17 ).
In its most current projection, the department kept in mind that relatively heavy falls of above 50 mm are likely at some locations in these areas.Showers may occur in the seaside areas of Western province and in Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts in the early morning too.Mainly reasonable climate condition will be anticipated in the other locations over the island, it added.Thus, the public is kindly asked for to take appropriate safety measures to lessen damages triggered by short-lived localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.Meanwhile, misty conditions can be anticipated at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and Uva provinces throughout the morning, the department said.
