Image: Igor BogdanovSeemingly in the same day, all the leakers jumped on to share the latest leaks of DJIs yet-to-be-announced Mavic 4 Pro.
So lets break down what people are saying and just how packed DJIs new flagship really will be.Read more:How the Mavic 4 Pro will stack up against the Mini 4 Pro and Air 3SJasper Ellens and OsitaLV shared presumptive specs for the upcoming DJI Mavic 4 Pro.
Ellens source was a reported leaked store listing and shared both a range of camera and aircraft specs and the actual marketing copy that youll see on the store listing.
OsitaLV shared two guesses as to what he thinks the specs will be and more details on recording CODECs for the cameras. And not to be left out, Igor shared a flurry of product photos, but well talk about those in a different post.Advertisement - scroll for more contentEllens specsThe specs from Ellens line up with what we expect to come; heres a breakdown:Hasselblad Wide CameraNext Gen 4/3 CMOS, 100 MP effective pixels, up to 6K/60 HDR or 4K/120 Med-Telecamera70mm, 1/1.3 inch CMOS, 48 MP effective pixels, up to 4K/60 HDR or 4K/120Telecamera168mm, 1/1.5 inch CMOS, 50 MP effective pixels, up to 4K/60 HDR or 4K/100Obstacle sensingOmnidirectional in 0.1 lux night, up/down/left/right/backwards, equipped with forward facing LiDARSpecial featuresInfinity gimbal, 360 degree rotating payloadMax takeoff alt.6,000 m (19,685 ft)Max wind resistance12 m/sMax speedSport: 25 m/s, Normal: 18 m/sFlight time51 minutesMax Transmission rangeFCC: 30 km, CE/SRRC/MI: 15 kmWeight1,063 gOn board storage512 gbAn across-the-board spec bump was to be expected, and with drone technology reaching a slowdown in what can be packed into such small places, this is pretty much what we expected the Mavic 4 Pro to have.
What is shocking are the focal lengths for the medium-tele and tele cameras.
Previous rumors shared that the equivalent focal lengths would be going down to ~50 and ~145.Personally, I thought these were better as 50mm is a more standard length for videos and photos, and the previous 166mm equivalent seemed a bit too much zoom.
However, DJI knows their market well, and Im sure my opinion is one of a small minority.Ellens leaked promotional text didnt state what focal length the Mavic 4 Pros main camera would feature; however, the standard across all recent drones has been 24mm.
I would expect something close to or the same.
What the leaked text did share was the potential of an expanded variable aperture, now from f/2.0 to f/11.
It also noted that it will feature 16 stops of dynamic range.Camera codecs, Apple ProRes?So far, there has been no concrete evidence that a Mavic 4 Cine variant of the drone is coming.
By now, we should have seen product photos of the Cine leak alongside its Pro variant.
To add to the speculation, OsitaLV states there will not be a Mavic 4 Cine. The leaker goes further to say that Apple ProRes, a main selling point for the Mavic 3 Cine, will not be coming to the Mavic 4 Pro.
In its place, OsitaLV states the drone will feature something similar to Sonys XAVC-I High Profile 4:2:2 codec.Just like previous DJI drones, we expect the Mavic 4 Pro to still shoot in less intensive D-Log and other video formats that will allow for minor color correction.
However, if youre a ProRes workflow studio, you might want to keep your Mavic 3 Cine as the only drone upgrade with Apple ProRes being available would be the Inspire 3.FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.More.
