and Russian intelligence firms spoke by phone and consented to preserve regular contact in an effort to alleviate tensions between the 2 countries, Russian state media reported Wednesday.CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Sergei Naryshkin, head of Russias Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), spoke on Tuesday in what was the first such high-level exchange in numerous years, according to the state-run TASS news agency.They settled on regular contact in between their firms to add to global stability and security, along with lower confrontation in relations in between Moscow and Washington, TASS reported.The call came as Ukraine backed a proposed 30-day ceasefire and agreed to go into instant negotiations with Russia during talks in Saudi Arabia.The last reported contact in between the CIA and SVR leadership remained in November 2022, when Naryshkin met then-CIA Director William Burns in Ankara.
