A 63-year-old man who was in possession of 5,033 prescription drugs, intended for sale without a valid licence has been arrested during a coordinated operation conducted by the Navy and Police in Kalmunai on Thursday (04).The operation was mounted by SLNS Deegayu in the Southeastern Naval Command in tandem with the Periyaneelavanei Police in Kalmunai.During this operation, the raiding party managed to impound the prescription drug consignment after searching a house in the locality on suspicion.The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of Maruthamunai 6.
The accused, along with the seized prescription drugs, were handed over to the Food - Drug Inspector of Kalmunai for onward legal action.
