A group of civil society activists today lodged a grievance with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) versus freshly elected Jaffna District Independent MP Dr.
Archchuna Ramanathan.The complaint was filed by the civil society activists requesting the CID to investigate specific controversial comments made by the parliamentarian in a video posted on the social media platform Facebook.A video of the independent MP went viral on social networks yesterday (21) which revealed him seated in the seat reserved for the Leader of the Opposition in the House and declining to move despite repeated requests by the parliamentary staff, during the inaugural session of the 10th Parliament.The MPs behavior and comments were the topic of extreme conversation even on social networks platforms.Dr.
Ramanathan was elected to Parliament representing Jaffna District Independent Group No.
17 from the Jaffna District.
