The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) states that a declaration will be made regarding any more power interruptions tomorrow morning (13 ).
CEB Spokesman Dhammika Wimalarathana expressed that a decision on whether any more power cuts will be executed or not, will be reached as the remediation activities of Norochcholai Coal Power Plant is presently underway. The CEB decided to execute island-wide power cuts on Monday (10) and Tuesday (11 ), as a result of a problem which arose at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant, where the automatic procedure system has detached all three generators, while restoring the island-wide blackout that happened on Sunday (09 ).
Appropriately, one-and-a-half-hour blackouts were implemented between 3.30 p.m.
and 9.30 p.m.
affecting the whole island to manage the electrical energy need effectively. However, the CEB confirmed that no power cuts will occur today (12) as it is possible to fulfill the Poya Day lower demand with the available generation capacity.
