The Colombo Magistrate Court has permitted the detention of the main suspect apprehended in connection with the shooting and killing of social activist Dan Priyasad, for questioning up until May 30, 2025.
This order was provided when the Mirihana Special Investigations Unit produced the suspect before Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela today (25 ).
The convenor of the Nawa Sinhale National Movement and political activist, Dan Priyasad, was contended the Laksanda Sevana Housing Complex in Wellampitiya on Tuesday (22) night.
According to reports, he was initially admitted to the Colombo National Hospital with gunshot injuries, but died shortly after due to the seriousness of his injuries.Priyasad was supposedly shot 4 timestwice in the chest and twice in the shoulder.
In addition, another individual who sustained small injuries during the occurrence is also presently getting treatment at hospital.It is reported that 2 people, who had arrived on a bike, fired multiple gunshots utilizing a handgun before leaving the scene.
