Authors: Super UserKATHMANDU, June 17: A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday promoted Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) Shailendra Khanal and Jeet Bahadur Pun to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG) of the Armed Police Force (APF).
According to Minister for Information and Communications Sher Dhan Rai, who is the government spokesperson, Khanal and Pun were promoted to the posts as per the recommendation of the promotion committee.
The committee had recommended the names of the two for the promotion on the basis of meritocracy.
Khanal had been serving as APF spokesperson and Pun was heading a directorate of the paramilitary force.
The two posts of AIGs had remained vacant after Durja Kumar Rai was promoted to the post of IGP and DIG Jeevan Thapa retired from service.
IGP Rai and recently promoted Pun will be retiring on February 14, 2017, paving the way for Khanal to lead the paramilitary force.
