The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, inaugurated oil extraction from eight new wells in the Amu Darya basin, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said in a statement.At a ceremony on Tuesday in Sar-e-Pul province, Baradar said oil extraction was a positive step in terms of the country becoming self-sufficient and emphasized the need to provide more social services to the residents of this province, read the statement.Meanwhile, the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Shahabuddin Delawar, said that the eight new wells bring the total to 17 in operation and the daily extraction level has increased to 800 cubic meters.Delawar added that 10 more wells will be drilled in the near future, increasing extraction even more.
