US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said on Friday that any meaningful steps toward normalization of ties with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) will be based on its actions, including its treatment of women and girls.She said on X that the IEA'srestrictions on women and girl are &deeply troubling.&&The United States has been clear: Any meaningful steps toward normalization will be based on the Taliban'sactions & including its treatment of women and girls,& she said.Earlier on Wednesday, Thomas-Greenfield said that the situation for women and girls in Afghanistan continues to worsen under the Islamic Emirate.&We think we need to do more to hold them accountable, but also to push them to change,& she said while addressing reporters at the Washington Foreign Press Center on UN Reform.The Islamic Emirate has repeatedly emphasized that it is committed to ensuring the rights of women and girls in accordance with Sharia law, and this is an internal matter of Afghanistan.The post US envoy to UN says normalization of IEA relations depends on its actions first appeared on Ariana News.
