Footage from a local broadcaster shows protesters looting the official residence of the prime minister in Bangladesh's capital after news that the incumbent, Sheikh Hasina, has resigned and fled the country.
Some of the protesters could be seen carrying chairs from the Ganabhaban.Dozens of people have been killed in anti-government protests that have swept across Bangladesh in recent days.
Mobile internet access was cut off in an attempt to quell the unrest.The countrys leading Bengali-language newspaper, Prothom Alo, said at least 95 people, including at least 14 police officers, had died in the violence.
Channel 24 reported at least 85 deaths.
